The Finance Council is one of 8 standing committees at SEAS. It provides the parish family, as well as its Pastoral Council, committees, and staff, with the pertinent financial data for joint administrative decisions necessary to the present and future parish operations and goals.

The Finance Council meets monthly to:

Review parish financial reports (provided by the Accountant and Office Administrator)
Discuss variances between actual expenses and budget in all areas of operation
Suggest appropriate actions, policies, and procedures to better increase and safeguard parish assets
Subcommittees of the Finance Council are:
Fundraising
Planned Giving/Development
New members are welcome - as are comments and suggestions. Please contact the parish office at 964.8627 or questions finance@myseas.org.
If you want to build a ship, don't herd people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.

FINANCE COUNCIL MEETING SUMMARY - JANUARY 2007

Contributions (mostly through collections) continue to meet day-to-day needs, but the Council is looking into a planned giving program to establish a more secure financial base that will help us to meet future needs.

Our parish Catholic Ministries Appeal goal was reached (and in fact, slightly exceeded!) so that if all parishioners remit the amounts pledged, the parish will not need to expend money from the general fund this year toward our CMA goal.

Work on the new budget for the next fiscal year (July 2007-June 2008) is already underway—all committee chairs are asked to contact our parish accountant, Beth Verde, to begin closing out this year and planning for next year.

The Fundraising Committee is going strong - look for another Chicken BBQ in spring, our 2nd Annual SEAS Open Golf Tournament on September 15, another Scrapbooking Day in the fall, and the Dady Brothers Christmas Concert/Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on December 9!
