LONG TERM COMMITTEE GOALS:

* Focus on making every Mass special

* Evaluate liturgies and liturgical components

* Educate ourselves and our faith community

2011-12 Committee Goals:

  • To use our strengthened leadership to build community among ministers within all liturgical ministries
  • To commit to implementing the New Roman Missal in the best way possible for our parish

In addition, each liturgical ministry is asked to set one or two individual goals for 2011-12:

  1. Altar Servers
    • Hold meeting/party w/old and young severs to get to know one another better
    • Have veteran servers attend liturgy meetings
    • Say thank you more often to servers and have picnic meetings
    • Establish more frequent communication with Altar Servers (more e-mail reminders and communication about what is happening)
    • Attend the first Mass a trainee is scheduled to serve and introduce him/her to the veteran servers who will serve with them that day
  2. Communion Ministers
    • Open more communication with idea to promote conformity, in lieu of an all-inclusive meeting which members are historically unable to attend; possibly offer a newsletter
  3. Lectors
    • Hold training/renewal session
    • Set up e-mail communication among lectors
  4. Sacristans
    • Hold 2 social/training/critique gatherings
    • Send out up-to-date mailings of changes/reminders
  5. Ushers/Greeters
    • Draft “job description” for ministry co-leaders
    • Hold “get-together” for all usher/greeters for training updates
  6. Faith Formation/Art & Environment
    • Encourage families to sign up to serve as “Welcomers” at Masses
    • Perpetuate interest in Small Christian Communities (QUEST)
  7. Music Ministry
    • Have recorded samples of wedding music selections available either on CD or on web for people interested in weddings at SEAS.

From the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy – December 4, 1963:

14. Mother Church earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to that fully conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy. Such participation by the Christian people as "a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a redeemed people” (1 Pet. 2:9; cf. 2:4-5), is their right and duty by reason of their baptism.

Liturgy Committee meets at SEAS on the 1st Thursday of each month (except August) at 7:00PM
